Zedrey Dale Laughlin, 75, passed away Wednesday (April 20, 2016) during the beautiful sunrise with his family by his side. Dale was born March 4, 1941 at Holston Valley Medical Center to the late Johnny (J.A.) & Beulah Ramey Laughlin.
Dale was a member of Gardner’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was also a member of Whiteside Masonic Lodge #13.
Dale retired from Sprint, formerly United Telephone, in 1999 after 38 years of dedication.
Dale enjoyed working on his Kubota tractors, being outdoors, gardening, golfing, and working on muscle and antique cars. Dale especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Dale is survived by his loving sons, Matthew Dale Laughlin of Blountville and Charles Zedrey Laughlin & wife Dara of Atlanta; granddaughter, Brooke Laughlin; grandson, Nick Thompson; two brothers, Albert Laughlin of Blountville and Wesley Laughlin & wife Joyce of Kingsport; sister, Louise Gibson & husband Johnny of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday (April 23, 2016) from 4 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Sunday (April 24, 2016) at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church (2101 Stadium Dr., Kingsport, TN 37664 with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Johnny Gibson officiating.
Committal Services will be held following the funeral service at Gardner’s Chapel Cemetery in Scott County, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Gardner’s Chapel Cemetery Fund (c/o Mary Lou Smith, 536 Scott Lane, Blountville, TN 37617) or American Cancer Society (508 Princeton Rd. Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601).
