Curtis Ray Hicks, 61, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his residence. Born on May 21, 1953 in Kingsport, TN, he was the son of Louise Hicks and the late Lewis Hicks, Jr. Mr. Hicks was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who cherished his family. His children and grandchildren loved and admired him very much. He was a devoted man of God and a dedicated Deacon for over 20 years and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 29 years, and was a self-employed building contractor who was a very passionate and skilled carpenter. His hobbies included deer hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his dad, Lewis Hicks, Jr. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Sharon Dianne Bailey Hicks, who was his high school sweetheart which love could not be broken. She was a very special caregiver for over eight years; daughter, Jami Leanne Hicks Morrison and her husband, Lacy Howard; son, Justin Ray Hicks; his grandchildren who adored him, Cody Dylan Morrison and Caitlin Faith Morrison “Caitie Bug”; mother, Louise Hicks; brothers, Ellis Hicks and his wife, Dinah, Joe Hicks and his wife, Patty, David Hicks and his wife, Sandra; sisters, Sonja Payne and her husband, Michael, Cay Fields and Sue Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday evening, March 7, 2015 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2015 in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Hawkins and the Reverend Rodney Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Christus Garden of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers honoring Mr. Hicks are Cody Morrison, Bo Riley, Joey Higgs, Chad Higgs, David Hicks, Joe Hicks, Ellis Hicks and Jacob Beasley.
