Clyde E. Powers

Clyde E. Powers, 88, of Blountville passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Powers was born on June 8, 1926 in Washington County, Virginia the son of the late Emory Powers and Ida Shortt Powers. He was retired from Galloway Buick as an Automobile Mechanic with thirty plus years of service and was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force, and during his time of service he received the following decorations and citations; Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), World War II Victory Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, UN Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include his daughter, Jane Harrison, of Blountville, TN; son, Larry Powers and wife Diane, of Abingdon, VA; three grandchildren, Curtis Harrison and wife Tammy, Adrienne Cox and husband Chris and Michael Powers and Sarah; two great grandchildren, Beecher Powers and Ella Powers; one brother, Clark Powers and wife Connie, of Hayters Gap, VA; two sisters, Hester Helton, of Abingdon, VA and Alicene Harless, of Whitesburg, TN; special companion, Roxie; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2014 from 11:00am until 12:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mr. Clyde E. Powers will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy Byrd officiating. Music will be provided by Belle Byrd. Graveside Services will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon, Virginia with military honors to be rendered by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Adams Chapel United Methodist Church, 486 Adams Chapel Road, Blountville, TN 37617.
