Mr. Claude E. Fife, 78 of Kingsport, Tn. passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at his home after a long, courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Russell County, VA. April 19, 1932. He worked on his family farm then made his way as a pipe fitter and superintendent for Babcock and Wilcox Construction Company in excess of thirty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents George Dewey and Hattie Alice Fife, brothers Herman Fife and James Fife, one sister, Helen Combs.
Claude is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Bertha Fife; two daughters, Carolyn Aper and husband Randy, and Connie Treadway; one brother, Harry Fife and wife Susie ; three granddaughters, Rayna Nehrt and husband Brad; Amelia Kelley and husband Dan and Lauren Treadway; one grandson, Joshua Treadway; four great grandchildren and his faithful dog Dolly.
The family will receive friends Wednesday March 30, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home from 5:00 PM.-7:00 PM. with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM. in the Chapel with Dr. Roc Collins officiating. Music will be provided by Mike Morgan and Michelle Brown. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday March 31, 2011 at 11:00AM. at East Lawn Memorial Park, family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
