Pastor Clarence W. Huffman, age 85 of Kingsport, entered into his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the V.A. Mountain Home Medical Center. He was born in Blountville, TN, the son of the late Noah Ruben and Elsie Mae Huffman. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in WWII from 1945 -1949, in the South Pacific, on a Weather Ship, a Mine Ship and an Air and Sea Rescue Ship. Mr. Huffman was an ordained Baptist Minister for over 50 years, having retired after pastoring churches in Southwest Virginia, South Carolina and East Tennessee. Mr. Huffman was a retired insurance agent. He was currently a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Kingsport. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and his great grandchildren. He was also an active volunteer with the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 1/2 years, Katherine E. Huffman in 2011; his son, Gregory Huffman in 2003 and a brother, Howard Huffman. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Krantz and husband Roger; grandchildren: Chad Krantz and fiancé Christie Buchanan, Brandon Krantz and wife Michelle, Bryon Krantz and wife Becky, Dustin Huffman and Savanna Huffman and fiancé Derek Cress; great grandchildren: Lauren, Landon and Ben Krantz; sister, Edith Smith; brothers: Kyle Huffman, Bob Huffman, Ezra Huffman and Don Huffman; sister-in-law, Ruth McMillan; brother-in-law, Ronnie East, along with several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Friday, October 4 ,2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Pastor Wayne Baker and Brother Roger Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chad Krantz, Brandon Krantz, Bryon Krantz, Dustin Huffman, Larry Browder, Doug McMillan, Landon Krantz and Ben Krantz. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alvin Goins Sunday School Class of Pleasant View Baptist Church and all of his brothers and minister friends from the area. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Ste.102, Johnson City, TN or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,TN. East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park is in charge of the arrangements and is honored to serve the Huffman family.
