Charles B. Pearson, Jr., 90, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Pearson was born on December 18, 1923 in Kingsport, Tennessee the son of the late Charlie B. Pearson and Laura Hensley Pearson. He retired with forty-four years of service from the CE Division of Eastman Kodak Company. He was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and a former member of the Fall Branch United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII and was a Prisoner of War. During his time of service he received the following decorations and citations; EAME with four Bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, W/1 Bronze Cluster and Air Medal. Mr. Pearson was also a member of the Jericho Shriners, Mason Lodge #686 and was a VFW Lifetime Member. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Jean Pearson; one infant sister, Betty Pearson; and one sister, Clarice Moore.
Survivors include his son, Greg Pearson and wife Janice, of Bristol, TN; one grandson, Tyler Pearson; one great granddaughter, Maci Jade; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friend’s Monday, October 6, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mr. Charles B. Pearson, Jr. will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rhonda Hobbs officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00am in the Garden of Hope at East Lawn Memorial Park with military honors to be rendered by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Pallbearers will be Tyler Pearson, Randy Moore, David Moore, Mark Moore, Charles Wyatt and Chris Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Davidson and Rufus Vanover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, 3200 Glen Alpine Road, Kingsport, TN., 37660 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN., 38105.
