Charles William Bishop Kingsport, Tenn. Charles William Bishop, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Bristol Regional Hospital, after suffering a heart attack. He was born Jan 3, 1946, in Kingsport Tennessee to the late Arthur and Della Bishop, and has resided in Kingsport for most of his life. Charles, a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also devoted over 30 years of his life being a line manager at AFG Industries. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Bishop; father and mother-in-law, Graham and Edith Cecil; sister-in-laws, Norma Legg and Michelle Bishop; brother-in-law, Pressley Legg.
Survivors include sons, Chad Bishop and wife Danielle of Davidson, NC., and Jason Bishop and wife Danielle of Kingsport; grandchildren, Chase Bishop, Desirae, Emerson Bishop, Kennedy Bishop and Ashlan; brother, Larry Bishop; great-grandchildren, Emmy and Rose; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 6 to 8 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home with services following at 8pm, with pastor David Luster officiating. Graveside services will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10:00am, where family and friends will assemble at East Lawn Memorial Park by 9:45 am. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Legg, Chase Bishop, Dennis Bowman, Dave Brooks, Sam Sturgill, Ethan Shaffer, Terry Hartsock and Roy “Tex” Jarrard.
In lieu of flowers, it has been requested that any memorial contributions be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church or a worthy charity of choice.
