Billy Winkle, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012. Born in Sullivan County, a son to the late Clyde and Ella Livesay Winkle, he had resided all of his life in Kingsport. Billy was also preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Marvin Winkle. Billy retired after twenty eight years of service with the Kingsport City School System, where he taught auto mechanics at Dobyns Bennett High School. A born again believer, he was a charter member of Orebank Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include his wife of fifty two years, Nellie Winkle; one daughter, Brenda Coomer and husband Brian; one brother, James Winkle and wife Ernestine; sister-in-law, Marie Winkle all of Kingsport; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Eckel Herron and Greg Collins officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Orebank Free Will Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Doctors and entire staff at Indian Path Medical Center for the love and care given to the family.
