Betty Lou Ratliff, 80, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the late evening hours of Friday (January 24, 2020) with her loving family by her side. Betty was born on October 27, 1939 in Virginia to the late Ira Beacher & Fannie Mary Frances Meade.
Betty was of the baptist faith. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Alvin Ratliff, Sr.; brother, Ira Junior Meade; sister, Martha Edith Meade; and grandson, Jason Ratliff.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Alvin Ratliff, Jr & wife Carol; three daughters, Debora Houseright & husband Ralph, Jr., Rhonda Caviness & fiancé Dane Stewart, and Beverly Housewright & husband Melvin; sister, Margaret Pauline Worley; six grandchildren, Stephanie Milton, Mary Stanley, Jessica Moorelock, Martha Slaughter, Keith McMurray, and Jake Housewright; six great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; special friend, Rachel Todd; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday (January 27, 2020) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Maynard officiating.
Committal services will be held on Tuesday (January 28, 2020) at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Prayer at East Lawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Hardee, Kevin Crawford, Kevin Bloomer,. Dwight Smith, Michael Smith, and Adam Hillman.
