She was born to the late William Ellis Nash and Willie Ethridge Nash in Columbus, MS. She graduated from SD Lee High School in 1967 in Columbus, MS, and went on to receive her degree in Mathematics from Mississippi State College for Women. Then taught math in the Columbus School System before taking a job at Eastman Kodak Co. in Kingsport in 1976, where after a year, she met and married Jerry, the love of her life. Together they made a home and raised two children, Christi (age 9) and Greg (age 4). She was in a women's bowling league for many years and was an avid reader, making weekly trips to the "Pactolas" Library. Betty loved family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and anticipating the births of 3 great grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending the summers in their Family cabin at Fontana Lake, with their "lake family and friends". Betty treasured the time spent "catching up" with her sister Ruth, who she had had a very special relationship with.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jerry. Brother: William Ellis Nash; brothers-in-law: Willie Daniel and Terry Ellege; sisters-in-law: Kay Nash, Glenda Riccio, and Clara Pressley; niece: Sandra Eilders Daniel and nephews: Thomas Ethridge Nash, Jr. and Mark Pressley.
Survivors include her children: Christi Nunley (Mike) and Greg Ellege (Wendy); sister: Ruth Daniel; brother: Thomas Ethridge Nash; brother-in-law: Marvin Glen Ellege; nephew: Mike Cope (Susan). Grandchildren: Daniel Hutson (Tiffany), Miranda Williams (Gavin), Isaac Hutson, Taylor (Ben) Ellege, Nicholas "Nick" (Raime) Ellege, Jeffrey (Mackenzie) Leonard, Zack McCracken (Christa), and Matthew Nunley (Cathie). great grandchildren: Zona Hearl, Maci Hearl, Waverly Hutson, Levi Williams, and Ellie Nunley; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Ellege family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. David Castle and Rev. Chad Ellege officiating. Committal service and Inurnment will follow the service in the Garden of Peace in East Lawn Memorial Park.
