Betty Jean Ealey

Betty Jean Wright Ealey, age 85 of Kingsport, entered into the glories of Heaven during the early morning hours of Thursday, October 20, 2016. Betty was born on September 17, 1931 in Scott County, VA to the late John Curtis Wright and the late Wordie Webb Wright. On September 17, 1958, Betty married the love of her life, Mr. Oscar Ealey, and after 42 years of marriage he preceded her in death.

Betty loved her family. She cherished every moment with them and she found solace in working crossword puzzles, and being the Sullivan North Band “Granny”.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Oscar; one great granddaughter, Caitlin Sproles; and six brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Celia Kay McNutt; son, Jesse Ealey and wife Melissa; four grandchildren, Beth Sproles and husband Jimmy, Mary Light and husband Tanner, Erin Ealey, and Andy Ealey; three great grandchildren, Mason Light, Matthew Sproles, and Noah Sproles; one brother, Robert Wright and wife Shirley; and three sisters, Virginia Wright, Carolyn Gilliam, and Brenda Stephens and husband Ronald.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Bloomingdale Baptist Church, located at 3220 Bloomingdale Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm at Bloomingdale Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Interment services will be on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of David. Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
