Anna Marie “Dot” McCann, age 88, went to be with the Lord, July 2, 2012 after a brief period of declining health. Daughter of the late Robert Glen and Nora Elizabeth Newman Bartlett whom she loved dearly, she spent much of her childhood in Yuma, VA, but had long lived in Kingsport, TN. Mrs. McCann attended Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church for the last sixty six years, fifty of which she served alongside her husband, the late Rev. Frank M. McCann. Since his passing, she longed for the day on which she would be united with her LORD and those family members which had gone before. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nora Bartlett; husband, Frank M. McCann; four sisters, Berthel Bartlett, Io Bartlett Roberts, Lissie Bartlett Arnold, Laura Mae Bartlett Tate; and two brothers, Clarence and Robert "Junior" Bartlett. Survivors include one sister, Gladys Bartlett Hicks; and two daughters, Frances McCann Birch and husband David, Charlene McCann Ward and husband James “Jim”. Also surviving are six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Orville Rogers and Rev. Todd Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Arthritis Foundation, or the Spina Bifida Foundation.
