Sandra Kay Weston, age 69, of Kingsley passed away peacefully Thursday, September 29, 2016 with her husband by her side. She was born February 26, 1947 in Detroit to Brilliant Thomas and Margaret Mary (Butler) Sarver. She graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School in Warren, MI in 1965. Sandy married Donald James Weston on February 26, 1966 in Warren, mi. Together they raised seven children plus numerous foster children.
Sandy owned her own daycare for many years and also worked as a Personnel Specialist for the Air Force while her husband served our country for 28 years. Sandy and Don were foster parents for over 20 years and they impacted the lives of many youth in those years.
Sandy enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, baking, and camping. She has been a long time member of St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church, where she helped with first communion preparation, catechism preparation, and was a Eucharist minister for over 20years. Sandy’s love for children also lead her and her husband to be mentors for the students at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic School.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years Don, children: James (Jane) Weston of Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Junjoy) Weston of Fife Lake, Robert Weston of Travers City, Nicole (Doug) Lofaro of Saginaw, and Jonathan (Regina) Weston of Portsmouth, VA; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Kroskey, a son Joshua Weston, and siblings: William and Raymond Sarver, Ann Robins, and Sharon Hendrickson, and a daughter-in-law Angela Weston
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 12 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11 at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary’s of Hannah School.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral home in Kingsley.
