Patricia Griswold was born July 29, 1931 to Ivan and Allene (Rinehart) Noel. She grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa as a sweet farm girl and often shared memories of her happy childhood. Pat graduated from Drake University with honors with a BA in music.
Patricia married Arthur Lee Griswold in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 12, 1953. She had four sons in four different cities as Arthur completed his military service and education. Patricia proceeded with her love of music to be a music teacher, a leader of church choirs, and varied choral groups. She also gave private piano lessons. Pat also worked alongside her husband running a medical practice in South Lyon and then Lewiston, MI, when they were semi-retired. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a positive outlook, and was ever the optimist.
Patricia enjoyed visits to the cabin with her family and friends. She loved to snowmobile with her husband and play euchre. Patricia and Art lived in South Lyon from 1962 to 1985, and in 1985 moved to Fife Lake to build an earth-sheltered home. In retirement, she enjoyed being an English tutor to Ukrainian students, being a Red Hat, watching her sports teams, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Arthur and her sons Greg (Therese), Bryan (Chandra), Robert and Les (Jill). She has ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Another great-grandchild is on the way.
A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, February 2, from 11am – 2pm. Location will be at Covell Funeral Home, 232 E State Street, Traverse City.
