James V. Candea, age 60, of Kingsley, MI, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday morning, December 11, 2010, his wife, Linda Kaye by his side. As he left her loving arms, he walked into the waiting arms of his daughter, Tanya Walling. What a joyous meeting that was!! All the praise and glory goes to God, Our Lord and Savior.
Jim was born on Feb. 10, 1950, in West Palm Beach, FL, to James Candea and Betty Jane (Beebe). He grew up in Howell, MI. He was proud to serve his country for 8 years during the Vietnam War. The integrity and love for his country, instilled in him during this time, continued all his life.
Jim became a Dental Lab Technician and continued that work throughout his life. He strove to always produce the best quality of work for each of his patients. When he was offered a job at D. H. Baker Dental Lab, in Traverse City, it was a dream come true for him. During his 6½ years there, he became a Certified Dental Laboratory Technician, specializing in Crown & Bridge and Ceramics. He was working on his test for Dentures when the cancer struck—exactly two months ago.
Besides his wife, Linda, surviving Jim are his children, Jillian and Dustin Jeffers, Jamie and Jermaine Miller, all of Flint, Genevieve Candea and Stephanie Candea of the Howell area; step-children, Michelle Wilhite of Warren, OH, Bill Powell of Flint and Robert Walling of Grand Blanc. Also surviving Jim are his 11 grandchildren who were so very dear to him. He made campfires with them, cooked french fries, made salads, held babies for hours, taught some of them how to use his woodworking tools, bought fishing poles, and prayed for them—always. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Tanya Walling, on Feb. 20, 2010.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley, with visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be offered at www.CovellKingsley.com.
Sincere thank you to D. H. Baker Dental Lab employees, and to Revival Center of Kingsley for embracing us with all your love and help in this time of great need.
Throughout all the trials of his life, the one Bible Scripture Jim always clung to was, “…being confident of this very thing, that He Who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Rest easy, Babe. It’s over.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home; 200 N. Brownson Avenue; Kingsley, MI 49649.
