David L. Schwindt, 72, a lifetime Kimball resident, died at Kimball Health Services on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Kimball Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Hod Boltjes officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may view the obituary and leave on line condolences for the family at www.cantrellfh.com . Memorials may be given to the Kimball Health Services Foundation. The services for Dave have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
David LeRoy Schwindt was born in Kimball on August 12, 1939, the son of Phillip and Katherine (Kuhlman) Schwindt. He received his early education at school District 5 in Kimball County. He attended and graduated from Kimball County High School in 1957. He moved to Missoula, Montana and worked for a short time at a grocery store before driving a truck for Cook Trucking for 3 years before returning to Kimball and farming. While farming, Dave also worked for the city of Kimball and on drilling rigs in the area, all while building a home for his family. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and always enjoyed spending this time with family. He had a love for all animals and had always wanted to be a veterinarian and especially loved working with the dairy animals.
Survivors include his wife Cinda Lou Schwindt of Kimball, NE; children Debbie Schwindt of Kimball, NE; Amy (Terry) Sorensen of Kimball, NE., Paul (Ruth) Knicely of Kimball, NE., John (Linda) Knicely, of Corpus Cove, TX., Andrew Knicely of Kimball, NE., Kelli Lu Spires (Shawn) Mannon) of Kimball, NE., Willie (Missy) Spires of Hoisington, KS; grandchildren Zach and Kaitlyn, Katie and Jessie , Laura and Joshua, Erin and Philip, Aspen, Lydia and Skye, Bekah, Montana, Rhianna and Wm. Tiger. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Philip and sister Dianna Knicely.
