Daryl L. Scherbarth, 55 of Sidney NE, died on July 26, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The services for Daryl have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family for a charity of their choice. A celebration of life for Daryl will be held on August 24th at 2:00 pm, at Chadron State Park's Lagoon Shelter. A reception will follow.
Daryl Lee Scherbarth was born in Rushville, Nebraska on April 25, 1969, the son of Stanley and Rose (Whiting) Scherbarth. He grew up in Hay Springs, Nebraska, where he graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1987. After graduating high school he moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where he earned a degree as an electrician. His career as a skilled electrician spanned many years, during which he worked for various companies as a contractor electrician. At the time of his passing, he was working for Clean Harbors in Kimball, Nebraska.
In 1996, Daryl married Julie O'Neal, and in 1998 they welcomed their beloved son Haden into the world. Daryl was known for his jovial spirit, always bringing laughter to family and friends with his jokes and quick wit, especially teasing and joking with his nieces and nephews.
Daryl loved animals, particularly his beloved cats. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in golfing, hunting, and various outdoor activities. His dedication to archery earned him a state record in antelope archery in 2008, a testament to his skill and passion.
A lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Daryl enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. He also cherished his visits to Sturgis, where he embraced the camaraderie and excitement of the event.
Daryl's life was marked by his love for his son, his profession, and his hobbies. His sense of humor, and love for nature will be missed by all who knew him.
Daryl is survived by his son Haden Scherbarth of Omaha, NE; siblings Jim Scherbarth, Tim Scherbarth, and Rita Kelly all of Hay Springs, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Deanna Ferguson and sister-in-law Roseann Scherbarth.
Daryl’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
