after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.
Clayton is survived by his three children, Linda Wells (Jack), Cathey Liles
(Michael) of Harker Heights, and Bill Johnson (Cynthia) ofMt. Juliet,
Tennessee. Seven grandsons, Micah Wells (Tara) and Josh Wells (Melissa)
of Nolanville, Will Liles (Christy) of Killeen, Lee Liles (DD) of Dime Box,
John Liles (Teri) of FT. Worth, Chris Johnson and Hollis Johnson of Mt.
Juliet, Tennessee, and thirteen great-grandchildren, survive him. His wife,
Jo, his parents, a brother, and a sister preceded Clayton in death. A brother,
Dale Johnson, of Alabama, survives him.
Clayton was born June 5, 1927 in Mississippi to Nathan and Della Mae
Johnson. He and his family moved to Alabama when he was young, and he
lived there until joining the Army in 1945. He married Jo Agnew in Belton,
Texas on October 13, 1948. Clayton and Jo were married 53 years until her
death in 2002. Clayton was a route salesman for Mrs. Baird's Bread
Company for 28 years until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and
gardening.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, from 6:00-8:00 PM at
Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. A graveside service will be
held Thursday, August 13, at 10:00 AM at the Killeen City Cemetery with
burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the National Kidney Foundation. The family would like to thank Gentiva
Hospice for the wonderful care given to Dad during his illness. We
especially want to thank Andra and Millie for their kindness to us all.
