Spencer Means Sr.

Growing up in the Great city of Birmingham (Roosevelt) he attended public and secondary schools in that area graduating from Wenonah High School to go on to join the United States Army where he would serve for 23 years with 3 tours in Vietnam.

On December 291961 he united with Dozie Mae (Pinky) Card. To which sons, Anthony (Muke) and Spencer Jr. (OBall).

Affectionally known throughout Killeen as "Maddog" after 33 years. Serving his country he along with his family retired where he would go on to work in a civil service capacity with Headquarters Test Experimental Command retiring with 20 of service.

Mr. Means, as some of us would call him loved his "Alabama- Roll Tide" football along with many other types of sports. When not engaged in sports he spent much time buying scratch off lottery tickets, working on his lawn and gardening, hanging out at McDonald's or Jack in the Box with some of his retired Army buddies as well as loving on his 2 German Sheppard dogs.

On the morning of December 26, 2021 our beloved took leave to join his baby boy, grandson Joc (Jacques Means) waiting at Heaven’s gate on his Papa.

Those left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Pinky, sons, Anthony and Spencer Jr., grandkids, Spencer Mahoney, Lakiesha Johnson, Chantay McCormick, Janina Means, Xiomara McCormick, Jordan Savage and Justin savage, sister, Patricia Wallace, Lorene Betts, brothers, Samuel Ervin, Frank Means, Lloyd Means, Cecil Means and Thomas Means and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with his extended family Eddie and Julia Corbett and Jottama and Vielka McCormick.

A visitation for Spencer will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, TX. A funeral service will occur Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 12:00 PM, Killeen, TX. A burial will occur Monday, January 10, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, TX.
