Shelia was born February 23, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas to Theophilus Jackson and Rose (Mahone) Jackson.
Prior to joining the United States Army in 1981 she worked alongside her mother in Psychiatric Nursing at Rainbow Mental Health Facility in Kansas City, KS. While serving in the United States Army she received the Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), the Army Achievement Medal (9th Award), the Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer?s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award) and the Marksman Marksmanship Qualification Badge with rifle Bar. On October 31, 2001 she retired from the Army. After her retirement she owned and operated True Blessings Gifts.
Shelia loved celebrating every holiday by decorating her home and cooking extravagant meals. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacinda Murphy, married to Nathaniel Murphy of Killeen and Detusia Pace of Killeen; three grandchildren, Aurelia Goodson, Kayla Goodson and Daniel Goodson-Pace; a sister, Yolanda Jackson of Kansas City, Kansas; four brothers, Theophilus Jackson, Jr., Wade Jackson, Ward Jackson and Leland Jackson all of Kansas City, Kansas; many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service celebrating SFC (Ret.) Shelia L. Goodson's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 3, 2010 in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment services will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
