Funeral services for retired 1st Sgt. Robert Earl Mack are Wednesday, March 30,2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will recieve visitors for a time of visitation on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6-8 p.m..
Mr. Mack died March 23, 2011, at a Killeen hospital.
He was born to the late Burl and Crezetta Mack on Aug. 31, 1947, in Trinity.
Mr. Mack joined Clergy Chapel Baptist Church of Trinity at an early age, where he remained a member.
He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. He was awarded the following medals: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (with Silver), 1 Loop, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with one Silver and two Bronze Service Stars) Army Service Ribbon,
Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral Two) Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation (with Palm), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle). He retired as a first sergeant.
Mr. Mack married Yvette Stewart March 3, 1978, in Schwabisch Gmünd, Germany.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
One sister, Carol Jean Mack, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Yvette Mack; daughters, Kyna Mack of Killeen, and Tamika Mack, of Austin; brothers J.W. Mack (Holly), of Arlington, Clyde Mack (Bettye), of Houston, Jimmie Don Mack and Joe Syl Mack, both of Trinity; sisters Lavera Scott, of Houston, Joyce Branch, of Huntsville, Christine Houston (Robert), of Trinity, and Loretta Mack, of Trinity; two aunts and three uncles; father in-law and mother in-law John and Catherine Stewart, of Fordyce, Arkansas; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
