He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas. He attended Gonzales schools and graduated from Gonzales High School. After High School, Mr. Armstrong joined the United States Army, where he served many tours of duty. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. Mr. Armstrong went on to be Chief Warden Officer in Sugar Land, Texas.
Mr. Armstrong was united in marriage to Sonia Armstrong. The Lord blessed them with one daughter, Carolyn Ann Armstrong, and a son Robert Wayne Armstrong, Jr.
Mr. Armstrong loved fishing, gardening, and sports. He was devoted to his career and family. He would always bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
Mr. Armstrong leaves in God's care to cherish his memory: Sonja Armstrong; two children, Carolyn Ann Armstrong and Robert Wayne Armstrong, Jr.(wife Ajenae) and four grandsons with one on the way, all of Killeen; a brother, Horace Armstrong; sisters, Joyce Taylor, Susie Cephas, Shirley Johnson, and Carolyn Caldwell; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
