I'm sorry I never knew Rick and I am so very sorry for your loss. My most sincere sympathies to you and your family. May God bless your family and give you strength during this difficult time.

I can not ever forget this memorie f yoiu grandpa.  It was one february day when mom and I came to see you.  You bet me to jump in the pool and of course i did it.  I miss you so much grandpa and I wish I could have been there to help you fight harder.  I love you grandpa.

I met Rick only once, but knew he was a good person. He loved my friend and her children. He was special and made Marlene happy.

I was happy to see Rick Porter again at our 45th CHS class reunion in June 2010. I will never forget that he drove all the way from Texas to see his old classmates, if only for one day. My sincere sympathy goes out to his entire family, I know he was dearly loved.

I, unfortunately, did not know Uncle Rick very well. 

I do know he answered our country's call and went to Vietnam where he was seriously injured.

I also know he loved and took care of Aunt Marlene for many years.

I know our Nation just lost a hero.

ONE THING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT RICK IS HOW SPECIAL HE REALLY WAS. THERE WERE NEVER ANY STEPS IN HIS HOUSE.HE WAS NOT OUR STEPDAD AND WE AS HIS STEPDAUGHTERS.WE WERE A FAMILY HE IS OUR DAD AND WE WERE HIS DAUGHTERS. THATS THE IT WAS AND THATS THE WAY IT WILL ALWAYS WILL BE. THE LORD HAS TAKEN A WONDERFUL ANGEL HOME WITH HIM. I'v known Rick since the 1980's. He was a fun and intelligent person. Marlene , Rick , their children and my children would go on trips together in Germany. On Sundays, we would take the riverboat cruise down the river .
I will always remember the good times we had together.

This is a beautiful glimpse of Rick's life.  Rick enjoyed a vibrant relationship with his Living Savior.  It was thrilling to see the joy of Christ as he spoke of all God had done in his life. He was an example of faith and perservence to everyone; worthy of being emulated by all.  Circumstances may not allow us to be there with you, but we are there in spirit.  

Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.     ~Deuteronomy 7:9

MY OLDER BROTHER. He has known me as long as anyone else on this earth; indeed, he was there waiting, the day I was born.  I cannot imagine life without him being "just a phone call away".  I will miss him more than words can ever express.
