Renate was born on April 2, 1967, in Schmalach, Germany.
From the very beginning, she carried a warmth and light that touched everyone she met. She was endlessly kind—always putting others first—and would offer her last dollar or the shirt off her back without hesitation. Her generosity, laughter, and ability to make everyone feel at home were just a few of the countless things that made her so special.
She was the proud wife of her amazing husband, Dean, and a devoted mother to her three children—Alex, Sarah, and Michelle. Even though she and Dean only shared one short year of marriage, it was filled with deep love, laughter, and joy. With Dean, she not only found true love, but also embraced a wonderful extended family of bonus children and grandchildren—each of whom she loved deeply and welcomed into her heart without hesitation.
Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her family. Every Thursday night, without fail, all of her children and their families would gather at Omi and Paw-Paw’s house for dinner. This weekly tradition, filled with food, stories, laughter, and games was her favorite time of the week. It wasn’t about anything fancy—it was just about being together. That was when she was at her happiest: sitting in the middle of it all, surrounded by the people she loved most.
To her grandchildren, she was “Omi”—a name spoken with love and joy. Her home was their playground and sanctuary. They loved helping her water the plants, feed the deer, raccoons, and cats that visited the yard, and just be near her. She had a way of making the simple things magical.
Renate also worked incredibly hard, running a lawn care business with quiet strength and determination. She never complained—she just got the job done with grace, humility, and love. She was beautiful in every way—funny, selfless, and the kind of person who made you feel safe just by being near her.
Though her time with us was cut far too short, the impact she made will last a lifetime. Her spirit will live on in her family, her traditions, and the love she poured into everything she touched. We will miss her more than words can express.
In honor of Renate’s memory, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a donation to B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse), a cause that was deeply meaningful to her,
