Ray was one of seven siblings, sisters Tommy Cortez, Mary Gonzales, Auvelia Valades, Esperansa Lopes, Linda Corona and brothers Paul Ysaguirre and Roberto Ysaguirre.
He was united in holy matrimony to Minerva “Mimi” Ysaguirre on February 20, 1951. The two fell in love after meeting at the Charro Days Parade in Brownsville, Texas. Mimi and Ray dedicated their love to each other for a beautiful 65 plus year relationship and blessed their surroundings with five wonderful children.
Serving his country as a Command Sergeant Major in the US Army for 23 years and providing his time for another 18 years in Civil Service, Ray devoted himself to being a great husband, provider, and a loving father for his children. He enjoyed fishing, football, dancing with his beautiful wife and family gatherings. Ray was also a member of the local American Legion and served as a K-Cop for the Killeen Police Department.
Ray was always willing to help anyone in need and was constantly very friendly, sparking conversations with just about anyone. Over the years, Ray provided support, love, and his friendship to a countless amount of people during time here.
What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us…
Ray received his angel wings and departed this life on April 10th, 2024.
His astonishing life will forever be cherished by his children, daughters Norma and spouse Billy Horton, Melinda and spouse Guy Hornikel, Delia and spouse the late Van Parker and sons Robert Ysaguirre and the late John and spouse Barbara Ysaguirre.
His grandchildren, Diane and spouse Kevin Andrews, Danny and spouse Dawn Horton, Guy Jr., Robert and spouse Brittany Fein Hornikel, Giulia, Jesse and spouse Jessica Ysaguirre, Roman and Mercedes were also blessed with his love and guidance.
He also touched the hearts of his great grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Benjamin, Jonathan, James, and Jasmyne.
Services will be held starting at 11:00 am on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
