A Memorial Service for Ralph will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S. Fort Hood Street, Killeen, TX.
Ralph was a brave man., who was proud to serve his country. He was a good man, an honest man and a kind man.
His wife, Ruth, was the love of his life for than 65 years. She was by his side faithfully, and she was with him every step, until his last breath. He loved each and every one of his seven children and his grandchildren.
He was not just a father, but also a teacher and a mentor to many. He taught his children to honor and cherish one another, not just in the word, but also in deed. He taught them to be survivors rising to all challenges, work hard, not to ever give up, respect others, show kindness and be a blessing in this world whenever possible.
His children will always cherish his sense of wonder and adventure. There was camping on the beach or in the woods, hunting and fishing, gardening and raising animals. He taught us to swim and water ski. He took time out of his busy schedule to tutor us in mathematics, history and science. He helped us along the way, watching over us and protecting us every step of the way. He was always bringing home animals for us to care for, and we loved them all. There was the bird that slept with the Siamese cat, and the goose that played with the Doberman, and the fawn we raised in the backyard on summer. He gave each of his children a calf to raise on a farm when we went on assignment to Korea. Those are just a few; however, there were many others.
My father knew, as we do, that death will one day claim us. We know that he is with us here, and in the beyond where there is no more pain or sorrow, where we will be received to love, in love. In the end love is all that matters. The battle is over, rest in peace, Dad. You will always be in our hearts until we see you again.
