Services for CW3 Michael Steven Adkins, 37, of Killeen will be 8:00 am Friday, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Adkins passed away Wednesday, June 22nd in a Temple hospital. He was born September 11, 1978 in Wooster, Ohio to Steven and Elizabeth Jacobs Adkins. Michael joined the Army in 1997 as a 92Y Unit Supply Specialist. He was selected for Warrant Officer Candidate School as a Property Accounting Technician in 2005. Michael had 2 Peacekeeping deployments to the Balkans and 4 Combat Deployments to Iraq. Michael earned many award and honors to include a Bronze Star Metal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC) to name a few. He married Wendy Marie on October 2002 in Killeen TX. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, was an instrumental part of the Killeen-Cove Chiefs Football team. He loved the Army, he loved the Buckeyes, and he loved the Cowboys... But what he loved most was his Children!
Those left to cherish his memory include, Wendy Marie Adkins of Killeen; children, Gavin Michael Ray Adkins and Christopher Michael Adkins, both of Killeen, Mikaela Marie Brown of Ohio, Courtney Autumn Edgemon of Oklahoma, Rayven Nicole Adkins of Killeen; his parents Steven and Robin Adkins of Killeen, Elizabeth “Libby” and Brian Taffin of Georgia; siblings, Jaime Herrier and Elliot Taffin of Georgia, Stephanie Stansberry of Tennessee, Danielle Jerdon of Copperas Cove and David Taffin of Georgia.
