Mrs. Young died Dec. 19, 2013, at a Temple hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1951, in Temple to Cleo Weldon Bay Sr. and Mary Glennys Baker Bay, who lived in Killeen.
She attended Killeen schools, graduating from Killeen High School in 1970. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s in business administration in 1974.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Young, on June 3, 1972. The couple had two children, Jarrod and Alayna.
Mrs. Young belonged to the First Baptist Church in Killeen and was a longtime member of the Joy Class.
She was a past president of the Junior Review Club of Killeen and also served as secretary and treasurer.
She also was a member of the Ensign Thomas Hughling Chapter of the Daughters of the American Republic.
Mrs. Young was a charter member of the Junior Service League of Killeen.
She was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for the Killeen Independent School District and volunteered in KISD schools for 18 years.
She was a member of the Exchange Club of Killeen and was a charter sponsor of the civic organization’s Killeen High School Excel Club

Mrs. Young also founded the Quad Cities Ride for a Child to benefit child abuse prevention.
Survivors include her parents of Killeen; her husband of Killeen; a son, Jarrod Austin Young and his wife, Tasha Young of Killeen; and a daughter, Alayna Denise Young White and her husband, E-7 Carl White of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Jaydyn Kase Lightfoot, Riley Austin Young, Amber Bay Young, Zoey Love White, Jarrod White, Taylor White and Gavin White of Jefferson, Ohio; brothers David Weldon Bay and his wife, Lynn of Harker Heights and Cleo Weldon Bay Jr. and fiancee, Shirley Jackson of League City; and by sisters and brothers Peggy and Sam Murphey of Harker Heights, Diane and Charlie Guidry of Killeen, and Bob and Sheryl Young of Harker Heights; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church-Killeen Building Fund or Aware Central Texas.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
