Mary Elizabeth Belote, age 83, of Harker Heights, passed away on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at the home of her youngest daughter Lisa Gay Thompson and husband Steve of Belton with her loving daughters and sister by her side.
Visitation services will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home with Joe Daggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mary was born Monday April 1st, 1935 in Choctaw, Arkansas to Andrew Jackson Connelley and Merle Katherine Huie. Mary grew up with her stepfather Galley June Sevier and three siblings. She graduated from Conway High School in 1952 where she was a cheerleader and voted Cutest Couple with her high school sweetheart Billy Belote. After high school Mary and Billy were married on August 14th, 1953. They were married for 53 years. Together they raised four children: Christi, Billy Scott, Cindy, and Lisa Gay. Mary and Billy moved to Texas in 1964 where Billy became the first director of the Killeen Boys Club. The family lived in Harker Heights, Texas where Mary was a realtor for 35 plus years.
Mary was greatly admired and respected by the real estate community. She was known for her honesty, unparalleled dedication, advice, and experience. Mary even became famous for her Mary B Pies at her realtor luncheons. Mary’s three daughters later joined her real estate team where they worked together helping families, one dream at a time. After 35 plus years of selling real estate, Mary retired in December of 2010.
Family was Mary's passion and delight, leaving a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched. A true lady in every sense of the word, Mary loved to cook and spend time with her family. Mary spent countless weekends traveling with her family in their motor home, playing golf with her husband, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. While at home, Mary also enjoyed her garden, plants and drinking coffee with her pets.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and stepfather.
Mary is survived by her daughter Christi Curb and husband Billy of Killeen, Billy Scott Belote and wife, Vera of Harker Heights, daughter Cindy Adamson and husband Mike of Killeen, and daughter Lisa Gay Thompson and husband Steve of Belton, ten grandchildren, and 21 great- grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by her siblings; Bill Sevier and wife Vija, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gladys Watson and husband Ocie of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Wynetta Reed and husband Bob of Temple.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dean Adamson, Justin Andrews, Wayne Blackburn, Weston Blackburn, Mitchell Copeland, Jian Pena, Bob Reed, and Stayton Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Brendon Blackburn, Tristyn Blackburn, Stone Pena, and Storm Pena.
