Texas.
She was the youngest of seven children. On March 16th, 1955, Maria (Mary) Bermea of Menard married Jose (Joe) Abilez in Junction, Tx. Together they had six children, Hernando, Joe Jr., Chris, Rosemary, Suzanne, and baby Rudolfo who died as an infant. She has twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who’s smile would make you feel loved and make everything better. In 1958, Mary and Joe’s military adventure began as she and her son, Hernando, left Junction to go to Germany. As a military wife she learned fast about what it would entail, holding down the fort while Joe would be home and then gone while serving his Country. Maria and Joe returned to Junction in 1986 after his retirement from the Army. Throughout Maria's life she had a strong faith in Christ in which she found her calling. She was a member of many different Churches but the most memorable Churches were St. Teresa’s Church in Junction and St. Joseph’s Church in Killeen. She helped by serving and helping the Churches where needed from cleaning the churches to being a CCD teacher. Maria served on different committees and became a Eucharistic Minister. Maria wanted to spread the love of God to all and at times she would visit the local jail to share her faith in Christ. She would share words of Encouragement that all things are possible through Christ. Maria and Joe left Junction in 2012 to move to Killeen to be closer to their children. Family was very important to her and her greatest gift of Faith was shared and passed on to all her family and friends.
Those left to Honor and Cherish her memory are her loving husband, Joe A. Abilez of 67 years, her sons Hernando Abilez of San Antonio, Joe Jr. Abilez and wife Kathy of Belton, Chris Abilez and partner Aseneth Cruz of Killeen, two daughters, Rosemary Easley and Husband Doug of Temple, Suzanne Doine and husband Gordon, Mary’s last remaining sibling, sister Amelia Rodriguez of Boise Idaho.
