Maggie "Carole" Carroll was born July 15th, 1947 in Marble Falls to Imogene Lee Creech and Willie "Bill" Marvin Creech. Carole passed away June 30th, 2022 in Gatesville after a long battle with Alzheimer's
Disease. Carole is survived by her daughter, Shanna Carroll Brown, son in law, Carl Brown, step grandson, Tyler Brown, and her sisters, Marvagene Boler and Dessie Harlow.
Carole grew up on a ranch near Rochelle Tx. She graduated in 1965 from Rochelle High School, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She went on to start college at Howard Payne University, and later transferred to Tarleton State University where she received a BS in Elementary Education in 1970. Carole taught Special Education at Copperas Cove initially and then both 4th and 5th grades at Fowler Elementary in Killeen, TX. Carole later returned to college earning a Master's Degree in Counseling at American Technological University in 1979. She then worked in Lancaster, TX as a ninth grade and special education counselor while continuing her education working towards her Doctorate at the University of North Texas' night school. Carole began her next chapter in her career in Arlington TX, where she was a counselor at Arlington High School until her retirement in 2005.
Carole loved to shop with her daughter Shanna. Carole and Shanna always looked forward to their standing date once a week to go shopping and end the day with Mexican food and margaritas. Carole also loved gardening and maintained a beautiful yard in Arlington. When Carole was younger she was an avid fisherwoman. She even had a few bass mounted in her office. As many are aware, Carole hated to cook. However, she adored collecting cookbooks that she would never use. Later in life, she discovered a great fondness for pugs. She loved doting on her two pugs and her four grand-pugs.
The last few years Carole may not have been as aware of her surroundings, but she maintained her happy and pleasant demeanor through it all.
If anyone has a story or memory you feel comfortable sharing with the family, they ask that you come forward or reach out to Shanna Brown to share your memory of Carole. The family would love to reminisce with all who have fond memories or stories of Carole, big or small.
