Kenneth Earl Davis was born October 13, 1931 in Yoakum, TX at his grandparents’ home. He was the oldest of five children born to Earl and Thelma Davis. Ken grew up in the Near North-side neighborhood of Houston, TX and graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1950. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, where he served for three years, primarily in White Sands, NM.
Ken earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. During his time at White Sands and Las Cruces he would often travel home to Houston where he met the love of his life, Gloria Parker.
Ken and Gloria married in 1957, and settled in Las Cruces where they began their family. In 1961 they relocated to Southern California, eventually choosing Huntington Beach to raise their family. In 1990 they chose to return to Houston to help provide care for their elderly parents. In 2001, Ken finally retired, moving for the final time to a 7-acre property in River Ridge Ranch, just outside Killeen, TX.
Kenneth was preceded in death by parents Earl and Thelma Davis, siblings Joyce Davis, Bryan Davis and Merle Gregory. Also, preceding him were his son Col. Mark Davis and his beloved wife Gloria Davis.
Ken’s interests were varied and eclectic, and he kept himself busy pursuing the things he enjoyed. During their 22years in Killeen, Kenneth and Gloria were actively involved with two churches. First was Faith Temple, and then later at Bethel Church. They loved and cherished the many friendships they made at both congregations.
Currently, Kenneth has been reunited with wife Gloria and son Mark as well as with the many friends and family members that have gone on before.
