Keith was 79 years of age and born in Huntington County, Indiana on April 3, 1944. Those who knew him knew he was ornery and a very stubborn ole man, but he was so much fun. He loved country music and watching TV, mainly old westerns, he was such a hard worker that never wanted to take time off work. He was like a second dad and grandpa to many. His coworkers called him pappy.
He married Helen Louise Bailey in 1966.
He worked for the City of Killeen for 17 years, he worked up until the day before going into the hospital, he had numerous awards during his time with the city.
Sgt. Keith Wayne Farber spent 20 years in the United States Army as a 12B-Combat engineer and 62J-General construction equipment operator. He earned his GED while in the Army. Sgt Farber had nearly 7 years of foreign service with time spent in Germany and Southeast Asia in support of Operation Desert Storm as a platoon leader. His awards include Army commendation award, army achievement medal, army good conduct medal, army of occupation medal, National defense service medal, Southwest Asia service medal with 3 bronze service stars, Noncommissioned officers’ professional development ribbon, Army service ribbon and overseas ribbon.
Sgt Farber is survived by, daughters Holly Farber of Killeen, Terry Myers husband (Larry) of Hardy, Ark, Kelly Walters husband (Dave) of Collinsville, Texas, and son Robin Wimberly of Killeen, Tx. 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many other family and friends who loved and will dearly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Helen Farber, Mother Melba Conrad, Brother Robert Farber, Grandparents William and Lenora Miller Henry and son Scotty Bailey.
The Service is being held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home 1615 S. Fort Hood St Killeen, Tx 76542 June 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
