James Johnson was born to Annie Mae Asbie and Willie A. Johnson on October 4, 1935 in Eastman, Georgia. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958, served 30 years and retired in 1985 as a Sergeant Major from Fort Hood, Texas. He loved fishing and was dedicated to taking care of his family.
James married the love of his life, Marian Johnson, and enjoyed 58 happy, glorious years of marriage with her. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian Johnson, daughter Jane Marie Johnson, mother Annie Mae Asbie, father Willie A. Johnson, brothers Andrew Johnson, Ollie B. Johnson, Otis Johnson and sister Mertice Johnson. He leaves to mourn his children James Anthony Johnson, Ronald Kelvin Johnson, William Derek Johnson, and Marvin Lewis Johnson; his brother and sister-in-law Dr. Willie B. Johnson and Denise Johnson; three sisters, Ruthie Jackson, Nettie Mae Johnson and Venearee Johnson; daughters-inlaw Wendy Johnson, Maria Pevia, and Belinda Johnson;17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, several nieces,nephews and cousins.
