Mr. Barron died March 25, 2012, in Belton.
He was born June 15, 1927, in Cisco. He was raised in the Temple, Belton, Killeen area. He was a member of Trimmier Baptist Church in Killeen.
Mr. Barron was employed with Connell Chevrolet for 25 years and Civil Service at Fort Hood after he retired from the United States Air Force.
He received the Top Airman's medal for Bravery during Peacetime on Feb. 16, 1959, which was presented to him 30 years later at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin.
He was a lifetime member of VFW and a lifetime member of the DAV and the American Legion.
He held State of Texas DAV and national offices for the Disabled American Veterans for over 20 years of service.
Mr. Barron was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Vickers Barron on Nov. 30, 2008; his parents, Pearlie Mae Peryman and Dudley Clarence Barron; his brother, Clarence "Bud" Barron and his sister, Georgia Mae Dowell.
Survivors include his son, Jack C. and Kay Barron, of Belton; Richard G. and Cindi Barron, of Belton; Randy L. and Sally Barron, of Belton; Jerry W. and Connie Barron, of Copperas Cove; his daughters, Tennie P. Stamper, of Belton; Christie and George Egbert, of Salado; and special family members, Patricia Mae Powell, of Killeen; Mark Stamper, of Kempner and The Dowell family. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
