Hedwig "Heidi" C. Rattay McPherson

Mrs. Hedwig “Heidi” C. McPherson, 74, of Harker Heights, Texas, passed away May 11, 2011 after a very long battle against Alzheimer’s disease. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Crawford – Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Crawford – Bowers Funeral Home followed by Gravesite services at 11:00AM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. McPherson was born in Lutzen, E. Prussia, July 18, 1936 and lived in Harker Heights over the last 40 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zekus L. McPherson.

Mrs. McPherson devoted her life to her family and being the spouse of a soldier. As a child, she survived WWII, traveling from former E. Prussia to Germany. As an adult and Army spouse, she helped newly arrived soldiers in Germany adapt, teaching the basic German language and customs. She was a life time member of the Good Sam’s club, camping and exploring different states and countries throughout America and Europe.

Mrs. McPherson is survived by her five sons Michael, Andreas, Glenn, Wayne and Jack. One Daughter Patricia Keaton, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
