Our beloved Gloria Joan Parker Davis, 89, went peacefully home to her Savior on February 8, 2023. She was born on June 3, 1933 in Redwater, Texas, the daughter of Carl Steven and Virginia Lee Parker. Gloria graduated from Southwestern Bible Institute, met and married her husband Kenneth Earl Davis in Houston, Texas, and first settled in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Later they moved to Southern California where she worked as a secretary for the Huntington Beach Union High School District and as a Guidance Technician at Marina High School. Gloria was an avid and talented crafter and quilt-maker, a big bowler, a competitive card player, a consummate baker and master cook.
What Gloria truly excelled in, however, was being present in people’s lives. She kept score in little league, led Missionettes Girls Club, attended many of her children’s ballgames and milestones. She was intimately involved in the everyday of those whom she loved, whether near or far. She was selfless, devoted, and much loved. With kindness and grace she always took the time to care and listen. She will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by older sister Betty Mitchell, and son Col. Mark Kevin Davis. She leaves behind her husband Kenneth, sisters Juanita Harden (Wayne) and Paula Parker, surviving children Rodney, Kendall, and Ginger, daughters-in-law Betsy and Sharon; and grandchildren Justin, Kevin (Kelly), Amy (Jordan), Daniel (Elizabeth), Christopher, and Ana.
A visitation/viewing will be held on Tuesday February 21st from 6pm to 8pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S Fort Hood St, Killeen, Texas
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 22nd at 130pm at Bethel Church Worship Center, 997 Stagecoach Road, Killeen.
