Frederick McPherson Barnett, MD, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Belmont Village Senior Living in Lakeway, Texas. He was born on August 6, 1955, in Lancaster County to George D. and Pearl A. (Westphal) Barnett.

Dr. Barnett, also known as Dr. B, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College, a Doctorate of Medicine from Penn State University, and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology from Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Over the course of 12 years, he served in the US Army as a Major. He was stationed at several military installations, including Fort Cavazos, US Army Garrison (Camp) Humphreys, Presidio, Fort Lewis-McChord, and Brooke Army Medical Center. Following his military service, he joined Diagnostic Radiology Specialists, focusing on Body Imaging and Cardiac CT angiography. At Advent Health Central Texas, formerly Metroplex Adventist Hospital, he held the prestigious roles as Director of Diagnostic Radiology, Chief of Medical Staff, and also served as an educational advisory board member for Toshiba. Known for his excellence and professionalism, Dr. B was highly respected among his colleagues and the military community. He was one of the nation's leading doctors in the use of the 64 Slice CT for diagnosis of heart disease. His kindness, generosity, and humor made him a cherished, loyal friend and a trusted colleague to many. In his free time, Dr. B enjoyed being with his children and his beloved pets, traveling, golfing, and driving his sports cars.

He is survived by his children, Frederick Jr. and Alexandria, and his sibling, Keith. He was preceded in death by his father, George, his mother, Pearl (Westphal), and his siblings, Fannie, George, and Sadie.
