Funeral services for Floyd Ray Wood 69, of Killeen, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial with full military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Wood died July 2, 2011. He was born Oct. 20, 1941, to Walton and Myrtle Wood in Alva, Miss. Mr. Wood retired from the U.S. Army in 1987 as a sergeant first class after serving 27 years.
He was awarded: Army Commendation Medal w/1 oak leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal w/silver, 2 loops, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze service Stars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon (Numeral 4), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm, Expert Badge Rifle.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Louise Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Po Pae Wood; son, Richard L. Wood and his wife, Juanita A. Wood; daughter, Toni C. Thompson; mother, Myrtle Wood; sisters, Shirley J. Forrester and Ruby F. Pontarell; brothers, William E. Wood, Charles H. Wood and Bobby C. Tye; and three grandchildren.
