Mrs. Evelyn Mattie Bruce Clay

Mrs. Clay passed away early Tuesday morning at her daughters’ home in Hewitt, TX.

Evelyn was born October 7, 1938 in Aubrey, Texas to Clayborne and Ruby (White) Bruce. She married Noel Cleston Clay on May 21, 1955 in Nolanville, and has resided in the Killeen area for the past 56 years.

She had been a seamstress in this area for a long time and retired from TDCJ-ID as a Garment Factory Supervisor at the Hughes Unit in Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Noel Clay; a son, Noel Ray Clay, Brothers: Jerry and Thomas Bruce and a sister, Ruby Doris Bruce.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony and Bridgette Clay of North Zulch; Lowell and Sylvia Clay of Tennessee Colony; a daughter, Sandra and Joel Delaney of Hewitt. In addition, her best friend and sister, Corene Lusk of Houston;

4 grandsons, Dustin and Jamie Ferrell of Waco, Chase and Sue Ferrell of Abilene; Cody and Heather Clay of Palestine and James Clay of North Zulch;

3 granddaughters, Trista and Scott Suttles of Bonham, Crystal Clay of NY and Emily and Cameron Mazyn of Madisonville.

7 great grandchildren.
