A memorial service for Esther Linder Bray, 87, of Killeen, TX, will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Harker Heights United Methodist Church, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, March 11th, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Esther was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 17th, 1923. She spent her high school years in Keene, NH, and graduated from Bates College, in Lewiston, Maine.
She was a retired elementary school teacher for the Killeen Independent School District, and was an active member of the Killeen Heights Rotary Club, 1st UMC of Killeen, Modern Study Club, and Killeen Schools Retirees Assc. Esther was also a member of the Killeen Chamber of Commerce. She passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2011 at Scott & White Hospital, in Temple, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gertrude Linder; her devoted husband, Daniel James Bray (Jan 2006); and her eldest daughter, Ellen Jane Bray (July 1989).
Survivors include daughter Betsy MacPherson (Roger) of Regina, SK, Canada; and one granddaughter, Brenna MacPherson of San Antonio, TX.
One of Esther’s great interests was the new Scott & White Children’s Hospital. Those wishing to give a memorial in her name can do so through the Scott & White Healthcare Foundation: 2401 S. 31st St, Temple TX, 76508—please indicate ‘For Children’s Hospital in Memory of Esther Bray’ in the memo.
