Elizabeth Anne Harris

Elizabeth A. Harris, of Killeen, Texas passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 66, at the residence of her daughter after a long battle with end stage renal failure. Elizabeth was born May 29, 1957 in Tyler, Texas to Byrd Slater and his wife Melba Slater. She married Steven M. Harris on November 25, 1978 in Travis County, Texas. She worked for Killeen Independent School district and retired on June 30, 2017. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoyed the company of her daughter, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Harris; her father, Byrd Slater ; her mother, Melba Slater ; and her sisters Margaret Nixon and Linda Slater.

She is survived by her only daughter, Mindy Bettencourt, of Killeen, Texas; her son-in-law Chad Bettencourt of Killeen, TX; her grandchildren Steven Harris and Elizabeth Bettencourt of Killeen, TX; a brother-in-law, Richard Harris and his wife Jacque of Keller, TX; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Burgess of Lindale, Texas. She is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

The family of Elizabeth unfortunately were not able to have a formal visitation but welcomes the company of others at the Graveside Service on Thursday, May 23, 2024 promptly at 2:00 PM located at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband.
