Dorothy Elizabeth Peoples, also known as “Dot” was born on August 30, 1931 in Kelsey City Florida. She was the second oldest of twelve children born to the late William F. Perry Sr. and Elizabeth Revels Perry.
Dorothy was raised by Christian parents thus her passion for the Lord was eminent. She accepted Christ at a very young age as a member of The New Bethel Church of West Palm Beach.
Dot enjoyed singing, teaching Sunday school and reading from the Bible.
Dorothy attended and was a graduate from Industrial High School in 1947 and later pursued higher education at Fort Valley State College and Tuskegee Institute (University).
In 1951, Dot decided to embark on a journey to the Big Apple. A few years later she married Mitchell Callender an immigrant of Barbados and had five children.
Dorothy loved family gatherings and was known for her basement parties. She was the Matriarch of Any circle she was included in.
Her profound relationship with the Lord exemplified the strength, faith, wisdom, humility and courage it took to be a Proverbs 31 Woman. In August of 1996 after years of partnership, Dorothy and William Peoples were married.
Dot was also preceded in death by her three brothers; Cornelious Perry, Lorenzo Perry and Grant Perry.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories a husband of seventeen years, William Peoples, five daughters Jennifer, Sabrina, Denise, Gaye, Omega and Sherry (step-daughter) and son, Michael. sisters: Jean Dunham (George Dunham), Inez Millender (Larry Millender), Gloria Jeter (deceased Pego Jeter), Juanita Nalls (Claude Nalls), Lillian Ingram (Ernest Ingram), Brothers: William Frank Perry Jr. (Ophelia Perry), Ronald Lee Perry (Delores Perry) and Joseph Perry. She also leaves to 12 grand-children: David, Richard, Cherise, Chantel, Osei, Ausar, Alex, Mary, Nikkia, Mike Jr., Danielle and Natasha, two great-grandchildren: Christian and Kenneth.
The Peoples family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Greater Vision Community Church of Killeen. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Greater Vision Community Church with Rev. (Dr.) David Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
