Services for Dorothy LaNell Gault, of Burleson (formerly of Killeen and Burnet), will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday (December 18) at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Chapel in Killeen with Pastor Scott Sharman officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
Dorothy died December 7, 2023 in the Community Health Care of Texas Hospice House, in Burleson.
She was born May 9, 1931, in Temple, Texas to Albert and Hallie Mae Keever and raised by her maternal grandparents, David Sherman Whitlow and Mattie Boney Whitlow.
Dorothy married the love of her life, R. E. Gault on September 7, 1946. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Killeen.
Dorothy was a homemaker and began her work career with the local phone company in Killeen at the age of 22, following the birth of their second child.
R. E. and Dorothy raised their three children and participated actively in the First Baptist Church of Killeen. After retirement, they moved to Lake Buchanan, where they became active in the Silver Creek Baptist Church. Later when R. E. and Dorothy relocated to Burleson, they became members of the Alsbury Baptist Church.
Dorothy retired from the telephone company after 40 years. She advanced in positions within the company and she was an active officer of their local union, supporting the needs of coworkers.
Throughout Dorothy’s life she took pride in her family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren and welcomed every opportunity for family time!
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, R. E. Gault, her brother Clayton Keever, her parents and grandparents.
Survivors include her son, Robert F. Gault and his wife, Terri, of Burleson, daughters, Lanelle Bailey of Fairfield, California and Elaine Ortiz and husband, Paul, of Waco; grandchildren, Benjamin Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Melanie Moore, Michael Malandrucolo, Mari Robyn Gault, Rachael Coile, Landen Ivy and Reagan Gault; great grandchildren, Harrison Malandrucolo, Evelyn Moore and Boedi Coile.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert Gault, Paul Ortiz, Landen Ivy, Michael Malandrucolo, Mark Cave and Greg Coile. Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Bailey and Zachary Bailey.
