Services for Retired SFC Donald H. Kousman, of Harker Heights will be 11:00am Wednesday June 22, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Harker Heights with Father Richard O’Rourke officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park. Mr. Kousman was born September 3, 1930 in Mitchell, South Dakota and passed away June 15, 2016 in Austin. He served 26 years in the Army, retiring in 1974. Duty assignments included stated side duty at Fort Benning, GA; Fort Riley; Schilling Manor and Salina, Kansas; and Fort Hood, Texas. He also served three tours in Korea and one in Japan, Vietnam and Germany. He received the following Military Awards; Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Unit Citation and Korean Unit Citation. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 223 in Killeen, VFW Post 3892, DAV 29 of Harker Heights, 40 & 8 V-1031, Killeen, the Chosen Few, and a member of St Pauls Catholic Church in Harker Heights. He was preceded in death by wife Vera Stransky Kousman, his parents, sisters, Eva Lou Royalty and Doloris Abeln, brother, John Kousman, son Duane Kousman, and great great- granddaughter Aubreyanna Lauren Veillegas. Survivors include 6 children, Sandra Kousman of Harker Heights, TX, Donna Kemp of Pflugerville, TX, Joe Kousman of Nolanville, TX, Lois Pratt of Las Vegas, Nevada, Phyllis Washburn of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Charlene Robinson of Terrell, TX, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors for 6-8pm Tuesday June 22, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen with a Rosary at 7pm.
