Pastor Donald L. Kirk, 78, of Killeen (formerly of Monroe, MI) went home to be with our LORD, Mon., July 9. A visitation for Mr. Kirk is scheduled for Thurs., July 12, from 7pm – 9 pm at Maranatha Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for Fri., July 13 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
He was born Oct. 5th, 1933 in Martin Co., KY to Fed and Goldie (Chapman) Kirk. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He married Lorene Wilson of Smith, KY on August 25, 1956. He worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Ford Motor Co., Sandusky, OH, LTV Dallas, and Toledo Stamping and Mfg., Toledo, OH. Don was ordained at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Sandusky June 1971 after graduating from Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington. He served as a missionary to Grand Cayman Island BWI and the Rhine River Baptist Church, Mannheim, Germany, then to the U. S. Military in Killeen. He was an active member at the Maranatha Baptist Church, Killeen for the last four years.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife Lorene, sons Mark (wife Peggy) of Fort Wayne, IN, Bruce (wife Donna) of Killeen, Jeff (wife Diana) of Harriman, TN, and Greg (wife Lori) of La Salle, MI; a daughter, Cindy (husband Paul) Newsome of Erie, MI; 12 grandchildren: 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne (husband George) Lajiness of Monroe, MI and Josephine Florio of Fremont, OH; and brother, Glen Kirk of Pickaway, W. VA..
