Diane K Vanderland was born on September 22, 1937 in New York, NY to Chauncey & Marion Kinglsey, she went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2018 she was 80 years old. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in NY and went on to receive her BA in Sociology at College of Wooster in OH. Diane was very active with her church where she taught Jr. Church, VBS, Youth Choirs, Sunday School, sang in choirs, as well as, an Army Chaplain’s Wife. She was chairwoman for 32 chapters of PWOC and organized a retreat for her chapters with Dale Evans Rogers as speaker.
She enjoyed Square Dancing with the Killeen Kickers, Classical Modern Dance, reading, singing, bird watching, feeding wild animals, and walking her dogs. Diane was a Metroplex Hospital Volunteer for the ER department. Throughout Diane’s life she has held many positions; Copperas Cove Assistant Librarian, Salvation Army caring for seniors in Alaska, Promotion Clerk for Fort Hood Headquarters Company, DOD Housing Secretary for Oakdale, PA, School of Nursing, Admin. Secretary Blessing Hospital, Illinois and Downtown Baptist Hospital, San Antonio. She retired to care for her ailing mother.
Diane married the love of her life E.C. “Van” Vanderland at West Center Congregational Church in Bronxville, NY in 1958 and to this union they were blessed with three children.
She is preceded in death by her parents Chauncey & Marion Kingsley and her sister Joan.
Diane leaves loving memories to her husband Van, daughter’s; Sandra L. & Randy T. Hudson of Harker Heights, TX, Marian A. & Michael C. Lowther of Seminole, FL and son William Sidney & Laurel of Midland, TX, grandchildren; Kathryn & Cory Vanderland-Rice, William Ryan & Leslie Vanderland, Kristyn Vanderland, Kelsey R. & Ethan Elliot, Tyler R. Hudson, Joel K. & Caitlyn Lowther, Amy D. Lowther and 5 great-grandchildren.
She will forever be remembered for her gentle smile.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church Killeen on Monday, March 5, 2018. Visitation will be from 10-11am, funeral service will be at 11am with burial to follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1pm.
