David Christopher Farrell of Harker Heights, Texas died Saturday, November 21, 2015. Visitation will be at St. Paul's Chong Husang Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00PM, followed by a Rosary.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Paul's Chong Husang, followed by burial at Killeen City Cemetery.
David was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Victor Joseph Farrell and the late Valeta June Leonard Farrell. He was the youngest of nine children. David was preceded in death by his brothers; Bud, Brian, and Bruce Farrell, sisters; Geraldine hennesey and Joanne Kane and grandson Matthew Alden Finkenhagen.
David is survived by his wife of forty-nine years Joanne Kramp Farrell; his daughter Jennifer Finkenhagen (Mark) of Harker Heights, his granddaughter Mary Angela Finkenhagen of Bryan, Texas; and sisters Nancy Schupp of Rocky River, Ohio, Mary Angela Mainwaring of Jacksonville, Florida, and Maureen Campbell of California.
David graduated from Saint Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Science with post graduate work in library science for Bowling Green State University. He worked many years as a teacher and librarian in Ohio, and since 1982, in Granger and Temple, Texas.
A devout Christian, David supported many Catholic organizations, schools, and charities. He felt that since God gives to you, you should give to God. David was an avid reader of history, biography, politics, and religion. He always amazed people with the depth of his knowledge of history. Especially interested in Russian history, he made several trips to Russia. A lifelong Cleveland Indians fan, he always kept up with his hometown team. His family was so important to him that although separated by a thousand miles, he always tried to attend all family celebrations in Ohio.
