Cherrie L. Angel, age 89, of Harker Heights, Texas passed away at home with her family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was born September 11, 1934 in Jarrell, Texas to Noel Edward and Lula Mae Cosper Hartman. Cherrie had four children, eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Angel in 1987; and by a son, Michael Louis Angel; a daughter, Cheryl Louise Angel Cooley; and three grandchildren.
Cherrie was a force of nature that survived brain surgery 80 years ago when that was not frequently performed. While legally blind most of her life, she never let that get in the way of enjoying life, raising four active children and moving from Texas to Colorado and then returning home to Texas.
Considered virtually indestructible, she survived breast cancer and outlived her five siblings.
An avid consumer of novels, she was never far from her next book on tape.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Angel-Watford and Linda’s husband Stephen Watford; a son, Harold Angel and his wife Elizabeth “Red” Angel; Cheryl’s son James Cooley and thirty-eight of her grand/great-grand/great-great-grandchildren, and cousins and friends that are too numerous to mention.
A visitation for Cherrie will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S Fort Hood St, Killeen, Texas 76542. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 13341 TX Hwy 195, Killeen, Texas 76549. Cherrie will be laid to rest in Garden of Memory, Killeen, Texas.
