Mrs. Reeves died March 15, 2015. She was born July 23, 1927, to Charles Jack and Lena Marie Clark.
She was raised in Springfield, Mo., where she was a member of High Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Reeves married Gene Reeves and began her life as a military wife traveling to and living in various locations.
The most challenging time of Gene’s career for Betty was during the Korean War when her husband was taken as a prisoner of war for 33 months.
After 24 years in the military, they retired in Killeen. She was a member of the Retired NCO
Wives Club, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary No. 147 and the Bob Gilmore Senior Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Reeves were both very involved with former POWs, participating in parades and traveling to yearly meetings and conventions.
Mrs. Reeves spent many weekends during the last several years helping her daughter, Shirley, at Texas Skateland in Harker Heights, which she and her husband own. She could always be found at the front door greeting all of the customers and working the ticket counter. The most important part of Betty’s life was her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, of 54 years; her parents; sister, Peggy Jean (Clark) Thurman; and brother, William Clark.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Morken and her husband, Don, and their children, Valerie Koester (John), Steven Morken and Natalie Morken (fiance, Andrew); her son, John Reeves and wife, Deb, and their children, Paul Fleming (Laura), Mark Fleming, Katherine Guzman (Anthony) and Ryan Reeves. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Grace, Erin Claire, Riley Fleming and Ethan and Addyson Guzman
